Pre-dawn Invasion, Possible Assault in SRSU Women’s Dorms

By Brooke Manuel, Skyline Desk Chief

ALPINE – A male soccer player invaded the dorm rooms of four female students at Sul Ross State University before dawn this week and one of the victims alleged that he touched her, campus security officials said Friday.

The father of a victim demanded discipline for the male intruder Friday and threatened possible legal action.

“New information has come to light and an allegation of physical contact has been made against the individual,” the university said in a post Friday on its Facebook page.

The invader, who one of the victims identified as a senior soccer player, was caught entering four dorm rooms in Lobo Village 2 without the occupants’ consent at about 4 a.m. Thursday morning.

A letter addressed to Carlos Hernandez, SRSU interim president, was posted on Facebook by Dominic Leal, the father of one of the victims. In the letter, Leal describes the events that took place Thursday morning. He demanded that the university take further action against the alleged perpetrator and said that he is consulting with legal counsel regarding next steps.

“I will not stay quiet” the father wrote in his Facebook post. “I will make sure my daughter and those other girls are heard.”
