BREAKING: Baseball Graduate Assistant Coach Is “Released” for “insubordination”

ALPINE- Sul Ross Baseball’s graduate assistant coach, Ruger Beck has recently been dismissed from his position due to alleged “insubordination and disrespect to the program”, according to Head Coach Caleb Abney.
Beck recently shared an announcement on social media saying he was no longer associated with the program. In his statement Beck says, “After being put on the chopping block and being threatened with the possibility of a withheld reference in ‘a small community’ I chose to advocate for myself and express my opinion.” Beck’s statement suggests this decision is what led to his dismissal although he does not regret it.
The comments left under Beck’s announcement are full of supporters, family, and students.
A current player who asked not to be named said that the assistant coach was dismissed as a result of “a lot of disagreements” that mostly occurred behind closed doors. The disagreements were over strategy and, according to said player, “who we are as a team.” The player also claims that the team was split 50/50 on whether Beck should have been dismissed or not.
Ruger Beck had attended and played baseball at Sul Ross State back in 2009 before he was forced to leave due to injury. This was Becks first season as a graduate assistant coach for the university.
