El Diario de Sul Ross Launching Fall of 2024
By Brooke Manuel, Skyline Editor
ALPINE – Sul Ross State University will be launching El Diario de Sul Ross, a Spanish version of The Skyline, during the Fall 2024 semester.
El Diario de Sul Ross will place Sul Ross State University alongside a handful of other universities in the country that have both an English and Spanish student newspaper including DePaul University and California State Polytechnic University, Humboldt.
“We are proud to launch the Spanish language version of The Skyline, El Diario de Sul Ross. Not only will this further the university’s initiative to be a Hispanic serving institution, but it will also advance efforts to enhance diversity, recruiting and retention,” said Sidney Balman, SRSU’s writer-in-residence and the faculty advisor of the Skyline.
El Diario de Sul Ross will consist of both stories that are tailored to the Hispanic community at Sul Ross and Skyline stories that will be translated into Spanish.
The Skyline is hiring bilingual reporters, translators and social media managers. If you are interested in applying, please email bnm21ye@sulross.edu for more information.
Given Sul Ross’ recent partnership with the University of Córdoba in Spain, The Skyline hopes to work together on journalistic projects soon.
