WHERE NEWS HAPPENS IN WEST TEXAS
Editor’s Note
By Brooke Manuel, Skyline Editor
After months of investigation and research, multiple interviews and weeks of preparation, I looked out across a room full of people staring back at me, waiting to hear what I had to say. All of the chairs in the room were filled by my peers and advisors from across the nation. Alongside names such as Alexis Scott, whose grandfather founded the nation’s first black-owned daily newspaper, the Atlanta Daily World, and Charles M. Blow, reporter, commentator and op-ed columnist for The New York Times, was Brooke Manuel, a 26-year-old student journalist from a town of less than 20,000 people chasing her dream.

Opinion: Religion in Politics
By Dawson Beard, Skyline Columnist
In the interest of full transparency, I am a Christian man. As a Christian man, I hate to see the drastic decline in people who identify as Christian, or with any religion at all, in contemporary society. For this reason, I am always happy to hear prominent public figures, especially politicians, bolster their viewpoints with their religious values. What infuriates me, however, is that there are certain politicians who make a mockery of Christianity and other religions by spewing nonsense and exhibiting their complete lack of understanding of whatever religion they choose to observe, at that moment, to advance their personal or political agenda.
